Hello Sunshine:)

Happy weekend everyone, hope you are enjoying it!!  We have officially started school holidays for the Easter break and we have 2 weeks off.  Yay, fun times over the next couple of weeks for us with a trip away:) 

Just wanted to share some more layouts with you. The first one is using the new Shimmerz Spring set.  Oh my I fell in love with this when I saw it, how perfect is it with the American Crafts Neopolitan range.  SO so much fun!

I am not sure if you have realised but a month or so ago I stepped down from the design team at The Color Room.  It is a wonderful place over there but just thought it was time to move on.  I now have some new ventures but I can't share them with you just yet;)  So stay tuned in the coming months!!

Prima and Pan Pastels

Just stopping by with a Prima share.  This layout is created using Pan Pastels.  I have applied a a small amount of Gesso to the background and the rest of the colour you see is created with Pan Pastels.  I have used the colours Turquoise, Bright Yellow Green, Black and Turquoise Tint.  I also created with the Sun Kiss Collection.

Canvas piece + tutorial

Hello, I want to share a canvas today that I made with Shimmerz, Scrapmatts chipboards and of course a touch of Prima!!  This piece was a really quick one for me and just a nice size of 12 x 12 inch:) It's definately one for the wall!

Here are the Shimmerz colours I used:

Coloringz in Lime in Da Coconut and Mama Sings the Blues

Blingz in Ginchy Green

Pearlz in Blue By U and Powder Puff

Vibez in Hermit the Frog, Jeni B Bleu and Before Dawn

Live, Life, Love

I also want to share with you my process of creating this piece.

1.  Firstly I applied Gesso to the whole background using an hold piece of cardboard.  Not being particular I changed up the direction of the cardboard strokes aswell.  Allow some sections to be thicker too.  I then tore a square piece of Calico material about 15 cm long.  Ripping the calico gives the edges a nice shabby look.  I applied Gesso to the Calico.  Now the fun begins with misting.  I started from the top section and worked my way down allowing the Shimmerz to run down the canvas.



2. I added another 2 pieces of Calico to the top right hand corner and the bottom section of the canvas.  I also applied more Shimmerz and blended the colours together by letting them run into each other.



3.  I now started to apply my embellishments.  Starting with the Ferns I applied a white dabber to them to take away the craft look.  I didn't do this to thick, just a subtle undercoat for my next layers of Shimmerz.  I adhered them to the canvas overlaping each other.



4. Adding to the cluster I placed my Prima flowers and Metal Birdcage into position.



5.  Using tiny foam pieces I applied the Scrapmatts birdcages, layering them over the other embellishments.  I placed the words down the canvas too and added Shimmerz Pearlz to highlight.



6.  I added Prima paper butterflies all over the top of the canvas (and the bottom) giving them direction so it looked like they were jumping out of the centre cluster.  I misted some more and highlighted all of the flowers with Gesso.  Using a paintbrush I brushed along the edges of the flowers and dabbed Pearlz to give extra colour and shine.  Using Blingz and Pearlz in Grinchy Green and Blue By U I coloured in the tips of the fern leaves.  I wanted it to look more blended so  I added some more Pearlz in white to wash out some of the colour.

There you have it, a pretty piece for the wall:)

Happy Thursday!!!

Wow, why does every day seem to be going faster and faster.  Every week I hear myself saying to Cooper only 1 more day of school left and then it's the weekend and it feels like it was yesterday I said the same thing!!!  Is it just me or time going really fast these days??  I don't remember it going this quick a few years back (I guess I didn't have 3 kids back then either).......  It's only a few weeks and the Easter Bunny will be here!  I feel like I'm still getting over Christmas.....anyways I'm here with some shares so lets get to it!

First up is another Scrapmatts layout.  I have used the following chipboards here:  CB1085 Keys Cb1012 Penny Farthing and CB6071 Assorted Words.  So I am addicted to these colours atm.....sorry if they are boring you!!!  But mixing up the Prima and My Minds Eye worked so well:)

Here is a new layout for Prima.  I actually based it on this months BAP.  This month Pan Pastel is also being featured on the blog.  I have never used these pastel's before, they were surprisingly easy to work with, the applicators are great to use aswell!  Here I have used the colours Neutral Grey Shade, Turquoise tint and Titanium White to highlight some areas.

Lots of gorgeous Prima goodies here......and look, shock horror, only 1 flower!!!  I still managed to fill the page with buttons, SIIC and trinkets.  The papers used here are from the Alla Prima and Printery collections with a smidgen of Nature Garden in the banner.

Have you seen this new Spring set from Shimmerz.  I can tell you I have just received this and OMG Heidi Ho Blue Coloringz in so so awesome, more turquoise than the picture shows up........definately a must get set, it's gorgeous!!!

Cooper had his first footy training session today!  It went very well, we thought he might of been to shy to get amongst it but Dad said he did very very well!!  Can't wait to see him play his first game in May, so so cute.....until he gets tackled and I will be a mess....lol!!!!!  So my big boy turned 5! Here are some pics from his party. He had such a ball catching up with his friends he doesn't see so often anymore:):)

Secondly I have something exciting to share.  For the month of March I am a guest designer for Scrapmatts chipboard.  I had so much fun playing with all this gorgeous chippie product:)  You can find the rest of my projects here !!

 I used a Penny Farthing and the Name Plates which I cut in half.  I just love the ornate edges on them.



Another project using a Printer's Tray.  I love this little tray, it is soooo cute and decorating it was so much fun!  Lots of texture and crackle paint.

Lastly I just want to wish this precious little man of mine a Happy 5th Birthday for tomorrow.  I can't believe my big boy is 5, I swear he has barely changed a day since he was born.  The minute he was born, these big brown eyes looking at us, we thought he had been here before!  He has an absolute memory like you wouldn't believe, he blows me away somedays with things he remembers......I think this might be the reason he seems to be doing well in prep.  So proud of him, he got his first award on parade last week for great writing and storytelling!! Have an awesome day buddy, love you to pieces x

Shimmerz and MME...

Oh it's so sunny and beautiful here at the moment.  Maybe a little too hot, but I would have that over the cold any day!!!  I am a little sad that summer is offically over and we will soon be moving into the cooler months.  Now yellow isn't a colour that I've scrapped alot with lately.  I don't know why, it's such a happy colour:)  I pulled out my MME papers (who doesn't love this new range) and went with all the colours! 

Shimmerz offers any colour you could imagine and here is what I used to create my layout.

"Snuggles"

 



 Lots of splatters of Coloringz and Vibes.  I always take the nozzle off the bottle and apply it by flicking the excess onto the page.   Lots of texture paste on my distressed edges and added more Shimmerz.

Love my little banner and twine:)  Oh yeah, I have also found a new love of Washi tape!  I have some or order.  I know I am a little slow with trends but I just picked up this Amy Tangerine tape at my lss and I'm hooked!!



So there you have it, a super fun, get messy, happy, shimmery layout!!!!
