OUAS DT reveal and tutorial

Good Afternoon :)  Today I have my Once Upon a Sketch DT project to share with you.  Part 2 of the DT reveal went live over the weekend.  So much gorgeous inspiration along with all the amazing entries already so far....check out the blog HERE.

I actually flipped the sketch on the side as I had a landscape photo to work with.

Here is my take on the sketch and the journaling theme was...........

Love this saying :)

"Happiness and Love"

I will just share some detailed shots but further down you will find a quick photo tutorial on how I created this layout.........

1.
I started with 2 pieces of paper.  One cut a little smaller than the other and distressed the edges.  I adhered them together and then proceeded to scrape some Gesso down the page keeping it fairly central.

2.
I applied a stencil and scraped modelling paste over it.  I then applied some Shimmerz mists.

3.
I now started with my paper layers which would then become my photo mat.  I cut several pieces of paper into strips and distressed all of the edges.  I also added a little hessian in there.

4.
I applied a piece of calico (with frayed edges) to the photo mat followed by a long piece of string I wrapped around my hand several times.  The photo then went into place.

5.
I placed a doily to the right had of the photo and added another one tucked in to the bottom right of the photo.  I added some sparkly thread too.

6.
This is now where I started to add my flowers.  I cut the vine in half and placed at both ends of the photo.  Others where tucked in here and there and a decorative pin was added to the top right of the photo.

7.
Another flower and some painted on circles.

8.
Several more flowers.........(yes I love flowers)!

9.
I then added the barb wire 2 Crafty chipboard.  I layered it over some of the flowers.

10.
I applied Gesso to the tips of my flowers, leaves and hessian.

11.
A few extra things were added now.......the title, the hearts, the flair button, the toothpick sign and the doily down the bottom.

12.
I applied a few flicks of Shimmerz (whilst covering the photo) and enamel dots.  I applied a small amount of Rub n Buff (in Antique Gold) to the barb wire and flower edges giving it a little more rustic look. Then I completed the layout with my journaling up the top right hand corner.

There you go, I hope you enjoyed my process :)

There is still plenty of time to jump on board with the challenge.  I can't wait to see what you make!!!!  Have a wonderful day xoxo
